Ambassador Leadership Traning

The Ambassador Leadership Training is designed to develop and equip youth leaders, called Ambassadors, whose role is to set up and oversee Deep Roots discipleship groups at grassroots level, throughout the 6 zones of our catchment area in Kasese District.  It is a 3 year programme covering both theological and leadership training.

100 Ambassadors have been rigorously selected by the Deep Roots Uganda team to join the training programme which began in January 2008.  The Ambassadors have been selected from a cross-section of the community, focusing on those who have expressed the greatest desire to lead a transformed life and have shown commitment to living out their faith.

The Ambassadors Leadership Training programme is essential as youth leaders currently have extremely limited training and limited or no resources. In addition the leadership models in the community are very hierarchical and the concept of servant-leadership is not practiced or valued.  The Deep Roots Uganda training programme is seeking to challenge mindsets and help the participants to evaluate their own cultural values against Biblical models.

Each year there are three residential workshops, each one followed up by a field workshop. This arrangement enables the Deep Roots team to ascertain whether what is learnt during the residential workshops is understood, internalised and put into practice.  In addition to the workshops, we also regularly meet the Ambassadors in the field to support  and guide them and encourage the Ambassadors to meet with each other.
